Mitchell Plateau & Falls

Rising from the heart of the northern Kimberley, we leave the Mitchell Plateau by air and experience its vast wilderness of sandstone escarpments, paperbark forests, and tumbling waterfalls from above. This remote region is home to the spectacular Mitchell Falls (Punamii-Uunpuu), where four tiers of water cascade through ancient rock formations into deep, clear pools below.

It lies within the traditional lands of the Wunambal Gaambera people, whose enduring connection to Country is expressed through intricate rock art and living stories that trace back thousands of years.

Flying over the Mitchell Plateau and Falls is a window into one of Australia’s most extraordinary and culturally significant landscapes,  a place where time, water, and spirit meet.
